March 15, 2018

Sarnia, ON - The 13th annual Capstone Design and Competition returns to the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park next week.

More than 70 students from the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western University will compete Friday, March 23. Projects will be presented in one of three categories: *Petrochemicals*, *Green Processes*, or *Specialty Chemicals & Environmental* with first and second place honours awarded for each.

"This competition, in many ways, is the culmination of years of hard work from graduating students and helps to lay the foundation for future career prospects," said Dr. Katherine Albion, Executive Director of the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park. "Capstone is also an excellent opportunity for our panel of judges, comprised of community leaders and industry experts, to stay connected to discoveries being made through academia."

Presentations are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until awards are handed out at 2:45 p.m. The event is open to the public.
