Community Development Corporation Board Highlights

Sarnia, ON - The Community Development Corporation Board of Directors met for its September 17, 2015 meeting where the Board:

  • Welcomed two new Directors to the Board - Fabrice Orecchioni and Jane Keast. Mr. Orecchioni is the Chief Operations Officer of Bio Amber Inc. while Ms. Keast serves as the Director of Ethanol Operations with Suncor Energy Products Inc.
  • Was informed of four new leases and six new lease renewals, maintaining an overall occupancy rate of 97% at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park (the Park).
  • Noted six ongoing collaborations with Western University. Further discussions are planned for later in the fall of 2015.
  • Further noted an additional six ongoing collaborations with Lambton College.
  • Reviewed ongoing discussions with numerous parties looking for research space at the Park.
  • Was pleased with the wide variety of research currently being conducted at the Bowman Centre, including biomedical, bio product development, water treatment, 3D printing, and bioindustrial applications.
  • Discussed the International Media Show Case event held at the Park on September 15, 2015, with representatives from China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, India, Germany, and Brazil as well as senior levels of the Canadian government.
  • Noted the success of the Bio Hybrid Chemistry Cluster for delegates of the World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology, which was held in Montreal over the summer. 20 visitors from the Netherlands visited the Park on July 23, 2015.

"The Research Park is growing in international stature," said Chair Mike Bradley. "The research labs and pilot plants located at the Park are nearing full capacity with strong interest being shown by companies with a global presence."
