Bowman Centre Director to Receive Western Engineering Award

Sarnia, ON – The Director of the Bowman Centre at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park is being presented with the Western University Engineering Award of Recognition.

The award is presented annually to individuals or teams who have made exceptional contributions in the past year to help further the academic, research and innovation, public service, and/or administrative missions of Western Engineering.

Dr. Katherine Albion will receive the award at a special luncheon this afternoon. Dr. Albion is being recognized for the key role she has played in expanding the research and reputation of Western Engineering faculty, diligently leading a number of highly successful business and professional development initiatives including contributions towards the Capstone Engineering Project Design Competition and Research Bridges: Annual Graduate Student Symposium with the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.

"I'm truly grateful to receive this award," said Dr. Albion. "The work undertaken by Western Engineering and the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park is incredibly valuable to students and the community as a whole and I'm thankful to be a part of it."

"Dr. Albion continues to be a leader in advancing the work and reputation of the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park, both locally and nationally," said Community Development Corporation Chair Mike Bradley. "This recognition is well deserved."

Dr. Albion has also helped raise valuable donations each year for the Capstone Engineering Project Design Competition, which is distributed to students as award prizes.

“It is an honour to present Dr. Albion with the Engineering Award of Recognition,” said Andrew Hrymak, Dean of Western Engineering. “She has been a member of our community for more than 15 years; first as an undergraduate student, then as a graduate student, and now as an adjunct research professor in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. She is also one of our newest members on our Advisory Council. Her commitment to our faculty, staff and students is second to none.”
